Rules

To make this work, we really have to be organized and diligent. By participating in the pool, you agree to these rules and any other reasonable rules that I should have written down.

• No wagering or gambling takes place on this site.
• I will notify you via email as to which lottery drawings we will participate in. Only send in money after you get the email for that drawing, but before the deadline for that drawing (referred to below as the ‘open period’).
• The deadline for when you have to contribute will be listed in the email, but unless otherwise noted, will be 3:00pm ET the day of the drawing. The deadline listed in the email will take precedence and it may change from time to time. If you contribute after that, there is no guarantee that you will be included in the pool, and I will make every effort to send back your contribution. The reason for this is because I have to organize all the participant contributions, buy tickets, and send out the email with all the tickets and your contribution/potential winnings. All that takes several hours.
• Only those people who are listed in the email confirmation that I send out are eligible to be part of the pool, with some exceptions. Every drawing is a new game, so you have contribute during the open period to be part of the pool. No IOUs will be accepted. No verbal agreements will be accepted. No exceptions or excuses will be accepted. You either pay on time or you aren’t in the pool.
• I reserve the right to disqualify anyone at anytime for any reason, including permanently banning you from participating. Typical reasons for this would be if you committed fraudulent activity, provided misleading or incorrect information, attempted to cheat in any way, or were participating from jurisdictions where gambling is illegal.
• You must be of legal age to buy a lottery ticket in the state in which you live to participate. All participants are responsible to adhering to their own local, State and Federal laws, or the laws within their respective country.
• Any legal, accounting, tax, or other expenses that are incurred as a result of winning the jackpot (or other large prize) or in conjunction with any legal disputes arising from winning the jackpot, will be deducted from the combined prize money pool, before it is distributed to the participants. Participants will receive the net amount, after all taxes and expenses, as determined by legal and tax professionals.
• International participants must abide by all their local and country laws, as it pertains to their participating in the Mega Millions or Powerball lotteries. International participants are also responsible for any costs incurred in collecting their jackpot winnings (although once the jackpot funds are received, you might be able to use part of your winning to pay for your collection costs).
• By participating in the pool, you agree that I will be the sole organizer of the pool. Your only right is to receive the after-tax after-expenses winnings, if it exceeds your contribution during the open period for that particular drawing. I’m not trying to be bossy, but this is going to save a lot of headache if we win.
